TYPICAL BVI SAILING ITINERARY
This itinerary is available on "by the cabin" and fully crewed BVI Charters.
Day 1 – Saturday:
Saturday Boarding at 18:00 (6 pm) in Scrub Island Marina – Dinner on board and night at the marina. Scrub Island is a serene 230-acre haven situated one mile from the east end of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. The mountainous island’s highest eastern peak reaches a whopping 438 feet and the highest western peak reaches 313 feet! Both offer great hiking trails and endless views of the Caribbean Sea and neighboring islands. Scrub Island Marina Day 2 – Sunday:
Sunday (Jost Varn Dyke) Set sail from Scrub Island Marina after breakfast and make for White Bay (12 Nm/2hours) for lunch and visit Soggy Dollar Bar. Late afternoon, head to Great Harbour (3Nm/30min) for dinner and option to go to Foxys Tamarind for evening cocktails. Jost Van Dyke is just four miles long, is truly the "barefoot" island known by travelers around the world for its casual lifestyle, beachfront restaurants and bars, protected anchorages and fine beaches. Day 3 – Monday:
Monday (Norman Island) Depart Great Harbour after breakfast and head to Sandy Cay (3Nm/30 min), for snorkeling, beach and watersports, followed by lunch. A national park donated by the Rockefeller family to the BVI’s. Ask for the crew to dinghy you ashore and enjoy a beautiful short trail through the island. In the afternoon sail to Norman Island (12Nm/2hours), well-known as the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's famed novel "Treasure Island", the breathtakingly beautiful Norman Island is the perfect place to go snorkeling. You will visit the Treasure Point sea caves before proceeding to Benures Bay (3Nm/30min) for a quiet evening under the stars, a great spot for paddle boarding and watersports. . Day 4 –Tuesday:
Tuesday (Peter Island) Depart Benures Bay after breakfast and head to the Indians (2Nm/30min), a unique rock formation that is one of the BVI's best snorkeling and diving locations with an abundance of coral gardens and fish. After snorkeling is finished sail to Deadmans Bay (6Nm/1hour) on Peter Island for lunch/watersports/beach. Legend has it that that Deadman’s Beach was named after the pirates who were marooned on neighboring Dead Chest Island and washed up on the shore. late in the afternoon go around to Peter Island Great Harbour for some festivities on the WillyT and dinner and/or evening at Cooper Island. Day 5 – Wednesday : Wednesday (Virgin Gorda) Head to the Baths marine park (10Nm/2hours) in the morning/lunch. The Baths are a geological wonder comprised of awe-inspiring granite boulders, which form sheltered sea pools on the beach's edge. The protected area also includes Devil's Bay, which can be reached from The Baths by a series of ladders scaling the boulders. In the afternoon sail to North Gorda sound (10Nm/2hours) and anchor between Prickly Pear and Eustatia for snorkeling and a quiet evening. Virgin Gorda The Baths |
Day 6 – Thursday : Thursday (Anegada) Set sail early for Anegada Setting Point (15Nm/3hours). Anegada is a low-lying coral island, it’s known for secluded beaches like Loblolly Bay and Cow Wreck Beach. The island is home to flamingos, rock iguanas and rare plant species like sea lavender. Day 7 – Friday :
Friday (Guana Island) Sail from Anegada in the morning and head to Monkey Point (20Nm/4hours) on Guana island for snorkeling and lunch. Guana has seven white powder-sand beaches and 850 acres of tropical forest, mountains, hills, and valleys. The island is mostly natural preserve and has a small resort. Spend some time at beautiful White Bay beach and paddle boards/kayaks in the afternoon before a sail to Marina Cay (5Nm/1hour) shortly before sunset.
